Instructional Programs:
- Desert Discovery
An outreach program in desert ecology which offers hands-on, inquiry-based workshops held at the UA campus for grades 4-8. The program focuses on the ecology of the Sonoran Desert region.
- Science to Go
Field trips to Flandrau offer planetarium programs in a domed multimedia theater, hands-on science exhibits, and science demonstrations and workshops.
- Marine Discovery
A public outreach program designed to teach elementary and middle school students in the Tucson area about the importance of our nearby oceans.
- Science Connection
A program where UA students visit classrooms, elementary through high school, to do hands-on science activities in the Tucson area.

- Frontera Girls
Supports the creation of computer clubs for girls and professional development workshops for advisors.
- School Districts, Career Services
Provides a wide range of recruiting options to educators and administrators.
- Science and Mathematics Education Center (SAMEC)
Promotes and strengthens partnerships among the various UA Colleges and local school districts, that lead to effective integration of UA science, mathematics, engineering and technology research into K-12 education.
- Teacher Career Day
This event is offered every spring for School Districts interested in recruiting educators. Students and alumni interested in careers in education will have opportunities to interview with potential employers.
- Women in Science and Engineering
A program where UA students and middle and high school students can participate in various activities to motivate young women to enter fields of science, engineering and technology.

Provides a variety of materials, including curriculum units, videos and books, available on loan to K-12 Educators and University Professors.

- Manduca Project
A science outreach program for grades K-3. Teachers receive caterpillars, artificial diet, instructions, and help with planning a week of classroom activities around the Manduca sexta insect.

Provides workshops, curricula, activities, online papers, and K-12 programs, in the classroom and online.

- BIOTECH Project
An outreach program for teachers.
- English as A Second Language Teacher Development
CESL can customize ESL and EFL teacher development programs for your institutions. These programs can be held in your country or in Tucson, Arizona.
- General Biology Program for Teachers
Offers graduate-level courses and enrichment opportunities for middle and high school biology teachers. Teachers may earn a M.S. in General Biology in the summers and continue to teach during the school year.
- K-12 Science Teacher Program
A summer research program in conjunction with the High School Student Research Program and the Medical Student Research Program.
- Engineering Research Center Secondary School Teacher Institute
At the Institute, teachers intern in research labs or at local industries and based on that experience, develop new laboratory experiments and computer modules to integrate into their science and math courses.
- Southern Arizona Writing Project (SAWP)
Outreach opportunities include summer programs for students and teachers, professional development programs, inservice programs, an annual SAWP Teachers Research and Inquiry Institute.
- Teaching and Teacher Education
Helps prepare undergraduate students for careers as elementary and secondary teachers and offers master's and doctoral programs leading to positions in school leadership, research and development and teacher education.
- Teach for Tucson
A fast-track program that leads to a master's in education degree and preparation for teacher certification in one calendar year.
